What’s in it
Three sheets: Expenses, where you log each cost; Totals, which adds up each SA105 box; and Read me, with the rules below.
Which box each cost goes in
The categories are the SA105 boxes for expenses, 24 to 29, plus 36 for replacing domestic items and 44 for mortgage interest. The landlord guide lists what goes in each, with examples.
Landlord allowable expenses, box by box
Under £90,000
If your property income before expenses is under £90,000, you can give boxes 24 to 29 as one total in box 29. The Totals sheet works that out too. Mortgage interest still goes in box 44 and replaced items in box 36.
Keep the receipts
The spreadsheet holds your totals. Keep the receipts behind them for at least 5 years after the 31 January deadline for that year’s return.
Or let Tillslip do it
Snap the receipt instead of typing it: Tillslip sorts it by property and SA105 box and keeps the totals. It doesn’t send anything to HMRC.
